220M Devices Affected

With 3G networks shutting down, over 200M devices will be unable to connect, communicate, or transact.

Affected devices include security systems, power meters, ATM’s, vending services, auto services like OnStar, HVAC and traffic control. Over a decade was spent installing these 3G modules in the field and now the industry has been given less than 3 years to replace them all. An impossible situation.

CellBounce’s plug-and-play solution upgrades 3G systems instantly, with no technician required, with much less costs, and without compromising speed or performance.

Bill Scheffler

30+ years of career development for the advancement of technologies that make the present day ‘smart home’ a reality. My experience demonstrates a deep history working in the semiconductor industry, as well as building and nurturing partnerships within the ULE/DECT and Z-Wave ecosystems. I am in constant pursuit of opportunities to make home automation available to a wider market.

In 2001 I began a fruitful relationship working for Zensys and then with the
Z-Wave Alliance and its partners as the VP of sales for Zensys. The goal was to bring HA to the mass market and to strengthen our understanding of the technologies that deepen the connection between users, their devices and homes. I maintain a strong working relationship within the Home Automation community from security OEM’s to HA dealers and manufacturers.

I have become a leading sales and business development evangelist of the HA industry for 30 plus years as well as one of the Founders of the original Home Automation Association while employed by X-10.

As someone who has spent the better part of his professional career honing sales, go-to-market strategies, operations and management in the home automation and IoT sectors, I am inspired by the new opportunities in and around HA, Security and ioT.

What the Industry is Saying

“ADT says that more than half of its 7.2 million security panels use 3G cellular service today, mostly from AT&T, which sunsets the service in February 2022.

Let's say it costs ADT $200 in parts and labor to replace each radio (or panel). Multiply that by a conservative 3.7 million customers, and the bill could total some $740 million.

What the Industry is Saying

A bigger issue has to do with the impending 3G/CDMA sunset, which will kill cellular service for millions of security panels that use cellular for their main alarm communications or for back-up if IP or POTS (plain old telephone service) fails.

CEPro · March 21, 2019Analysis: 3G Sunset Doom as ‘Opportunity’

A good chunk of ADT Pulse products utilize AT&T's 3G network, which sunsets in February 2022. Those products don't support IP communications for alarm signaling, so if the customer doesn't have a POTS line, their security service is dead ... unless ADT replaces the radios at a substantial cost of time and labor.

CEPro · March 21, 2019Analysis: 3G Sunset Doom as ‘Opportunity’

Will ADT make an effort to swap out these radios in advance of the sunset – it’s still three years away – and prolong the life of these legacy systems and the Icontrol platform that drives them?

Or will ADT move to replace the aging panels with Command and Control, and be rid of the legacy systems once and for all?
